Having trouble prioritizing your studies? Do you feel like everything you learn goes in one ear and out the other? Or maybe you're so tired you can barely open a book. It's time to get up and move!

Here you will learn how exercise can improve your journey through school.

DIRECT EFFECTS

Exercise right before a study sesh has shown to improve your working memory, which means you'll retain more of the information you learn, and be able to recall it later much easier.

If you struggle with math, exercise is your go-to tutor! Studies have shown that exercise specifically improves math skills.

INDIRECT EFFECTS

Physical activity improves all areas of our executive function. These are things like impulse and emotional control, planning and prioritizing, organization, and task initiation.

Sometimes it's hard to choose studying over partying. It can be difficult to initiate studying when we're so comfortable on the couch. And staying organized? Well that often seems impossible. Luckily, exercise improves ALL of these areas, making those hard decisions easier.

AND THE BEST NEWS YET...

It doesn't have to be hard! No gym membership required. Just ten minutes at a time of moderate activity (dancing, jogging to class) will give your brain the boost it needs.

Tip:

Try setting an alarm every 30 or 60 minutes while studying to remind yourself to get up and move. Walk up the stairs a few times, or dance to your favorite song.

Your grades will thank you!
